1. FILM:
Only use 35mm film. 400 speed works best. 100 or 200
speed may require the use of a tripod to be steady.
No matter what angle you take your pictures, always
fill the frame up with your vehicle. Dont cut
off portions of your vehicle, keep it centered. Send
3 x 5 to 8 x 10 prints only. Please do not send us slides,
instant camera prints, negatives, or e-mail photos.
Digital
Photos: We now accept digital photos,
only saved on a CD. Please note:
You must use a digital camera with 3.0 or higher megapixels.
All photos must be taken and saved at the highest resolution
and quality your camera has to offer. Use standard optical
focal length. Do not use Digital Zoom, it will render
your photos to coarse. Save your photos in both standard
and TIFF formats (tiff preferred), on a CD as they were
originally taken, do not use any photo touch up programs
to alter the photos.
2. LOCATION: Always choose a natural setting, free of obstacles, people, trash or other vehicles. A park or vacant lot works best.
3. LIGHTING: Always carefully take the time to view your picture before you take it. What you see in your lens is generally what you get in your photo. Always have the sun behind you. Try taking pictures closer to dawn or dusk. Make sure your vehicle is not in shadow or poor lighting. Position yourself so you dont reflect into the picture.
4. PICTURE ANGLES: Use the entire roll of film. Take enough angled shots so you have a wide range to choose from. Turn your front wheels slightly to show your rims. Take 3/4 front view, 3/4 rear view, full side, rear & front view, interiors, engine compartments, driver/owner photos, & restoration photos. Watch out for too much sun glare, dont be afraid to move your vehicle to different angles to limit the amount of sun glare. Always take pictures of the drivers side this is the Show Side.
5. MOTORCYCLES: Generally have lots of chrome, so watch out for too much sparkle effect or reflections of yourself in the picture. Take plenty of angled shots, overhead views, and close up shots of your engine. Always position your front wheel either straight, or slightly turned towards you. Low tripod shots work well with bikes from ground level.
6: Label the
back of each photo with your name & phone No. Also
label your 1st choice photo, 2nd choice, 3rd & 4th.
Your 1st choice will be the Main Photo in your layout.
(Main Photo being the Largest Photo in your sign) Place
